A very simple flier. I'm happy with the balance though. I'm in the beginning of my final two weeks of school while i'm writing this and this show cannot come soon enough. Awesome bands will be seen and an awesome time will be had.

I filled in that whole background with a sharpie. If you were in my room you would have had a contact high.

Drawn in brush pen and then digitally colored which I seem to have been doing more and more lately. I was out of town during this show so i didn't catch it.
This is a poster for a hard rock concert. Swearin', Nona, Sundials, and Little Master are all awesome. Not too big into BTMI. This was drawn in mostly sharpie (2nd image) and then colored in photoshop (1st image). I want your skulls or something.

Matt asked me to draw a flier for a Joyce Manor show sponsored by FYF. I was excited to be asked for this. This was the third flier i've drawn for Joyce Manor, the other two on my own will. I sketched this out in pencil then inked it with ink and brush. No pen this time. This was then digitally colored in photoshop. This is probably my favorite flier to date and it seemed to come pretty easy to me. I sat down and within two hours it was pretty much done. And only a few days after being asked.

This was a drawing printed on shirts for friends Close Talker. An excellent band that seems to be under the radar. They just need to record and get all their songs out. One of my local favorites and great guys as well. I'll post a photo of the actual shirt soon.

Flier for the Corin Tucker Band show at Strange Matter. Corin Tucker was in Sleater-Kinney, one of my favorite bands since 9th grade. Fun fact: I actually head S-K for the first time after picking up "One Beat" from the Virginia Beach public library because i thought the cover art looked cool. I never got to see Sleater-Kinney before they broke up and i don't know if i ever will. Seeing Corin Tucker and Wild Flag live might be the closest i get. I'm not as happy with the flier for this show, i wish i hadn't rushed it so much. But i'm glad that i got to see Corin Tucker.

springtime shirt design, a drawing in a sketchbook ended up becoming our first real shirt. the print on these came out great and i'm really pleased with how these shirts came out.

another straight pen drawing. i've also been excited to break away from standard portrait drawings of the same composition thats usual for me.

A Boys Gotta Eat

i've been trying to get better at planning less for drawings and being more spontaneous. usually when i'm sketching something out in pencil it'll take me forever to ink something just because i get stressed out hoping my drawing will come out like i imagined it. with this drawing i actually drew everything straight with pen which is very rare for me. for this being straight with pen it came out much better than i expected and i'm happy with this drawing. this drawing has no direct reference to anything, except being inspired by pettibon like usual. i even took more influence this time by including text like many of his drawings.

the first one is the original black and white version, the second is colored in photoshop.

another flier drawn in a moleskine. the majority of it was drawn in class months ago. the face and text were added pretty quickly. digitally colored grey.

flier for the upcoming return of Joyce Manor to the camel. this flier was actually drawn while sitting on a beach, in Bethany Beach, Delaware. the actual drawing is in a moleskine sketchbook, scanned in, and colored in photoshop. i'm stoked on how it turned out. and obviously im stoked to see JM again. the set in April was so much fun.
this will be the first Norfolk show i've played in a long time besides the Just Friends show at Path back in the winter.

so titanic was re-released in 3D. i haven't had a chance to see it yet. but i like to pretend that the ending was changed, so that Jack lives, also that they didn't have the heart of the ocean in the end. so at some point Jack might have worked in fast food...

Rock poster. It's funny that that skeleton/basic layout of the flier were actually done in the fall for the Men/Flechette flier i drew up for Boone. I was so indecisive about it though that i couldnt bring myself to ink it because it didnt look right to me. Fast forward like 8 months and i'm going through my drawing pad and i see that flier again, in pencil. I inked everything in this using india ink, a sumi brush and a dip pen (finer lines on the skeleton). All the text was added without pencilling first, which is rare for me. Considering how fast the actual inking/updating was for this flier, i'm pretty satisfied with it. It's fitting since this is a last minute show Roger mostly booked. I was trying to help him out with a flier.

This is a shirt i drew up recently. It's a drawing of Rachel's brother's puggle, Joe. This is from a photo of him sleeping. I think it's funny, having a shirt for Family Cat, with a DOG. Hopefully i'm not the only one.

Springtime sticker. Still waiting on these to arrive as well. This was actually drawn while on the road back from the Promise Ring reunion show in Chicago. Marshall was driving and i was riding shotgun, drawing in my sketchbook for part of the time. This is obviously a vague road sketch that isn't too destination-specific, but i wish i could remember where we were when i drew this. It was possibly in Ohio.
Family Cat sticker I drew up. I ordered Family Cat and Springtime stickers about the same time almost a month ago. The site said it would be 3 day delivery... i'm still waiting on both.

This is a portrait of Tyler. He was originally drawn wearing a Cake shirt, something fitting for him, but it was edited out later to avoid an kind of confusion.

I rarely put myself out there with my art, as much as i need to. However, I was asked to possibly help out with a show for the band Joyce Manor, through one of the members i had met when Tiger Tail played with them last summer. I gladly said i'd do whatever i could but also asked if i could draw up a shirt for them. I drew up two versions of this image, based on the song "Leather Jacket", and they decided to go with it. It's one of the coolest feelings getting to draw a shirt for a band you like a lot as well as getting paid on top of it. Joyce Manor and the guys in it are great.
Flier made from a scan out of a National Geographic. This show was awesome. It was actually my first time seeing Brief Lives as well as In Circles. Both bands played really tight sets. This is still my favorite set Springtime has played as well. Out of the handful of shows we've played so far only two of them have been with Charlie. This has been our only Richmond one with him so far. The other was in Harrisonburg.

Family Cat is lucky enough to play with the Jealous Sound. I love the Jealous Sound and I love Knapsack. That's one talented guy. I'm excited that this flier is a little different than usual for me. Hopefully this is a sign of trying new things in drawings.

Rock poster. Waxahatchee is Katie from PS Eliot's solo project. Pretty excited to see it. Also, i'll be doing double duty at this show, playing sets with Springtime and Just Friends.
more math drawings.

Last minute Hooking Up flier. Originally supposed to be their record release show. The image is from some old national geographic, scanned in and pasted on top of itself, one magnified.
